for June ANC Meeting
The
monthly meeting of the Advisory Neighborhood Commission
3E was called to order at 7:40 PM by Chairperson Diskan,
with Commissioners McNamara, Mayo and Posniak in attendance.

Business/Actions
The
minutes of the May 11, 2000 meeting were unanimously
approved.
The
treasurers report was unanimously approved pending
receipt of written report and all the following checks
were also unanimously approved.

Announcements
Marvin
Tevisky announced an open forum concerning the upcoming
school board special election. The meeting will be on
June 20th, 4:00 PM at Tenley Library.
Mr.
Tevisky also announced that the construction next to
the Dancing Crab is going to be a communications tower
owned by American Tower Company.
Commissioner
McNamara read a letter from DPW Deputy Director Art
Lawson acknowledging receipt of the second submission
of punch list items.
Commissioner
Diskan announced:
An open forum concerning the school board will be held
at the Reeves Center on June 9th from 7-9PM.
Ft. Bayard Park clean up on June 10th from 9-12PM with
a bar-b-Que following.
Three
liquor licenses will be up for renewal in the near future,
Maggianos; Matisse; and The Round Table and the
commissioners are interested if anyone has any objections.
There
will be a public meeting June 13th, 7:30PM at Sumner
School concerning the National Transportation.
Tenleytown Historical Society has filed a landmark application
for the Tenley Fire Department Building.
The new plan for the development at Albemarle and Nebraska
is for 14 units with double car garages. There will
be a special meeting in September prior to the zoning
meeting in October.

Forum
Commissioner
McNamara brought up the fact that a speed bump had been
installed on 49th Street, NW between Chesapeake and
Western and DPW and the police department had no knowledge
of the speed bump.
Grant
Awards Presentation
The
following non-profit organizations received grants totaling
$4,600.

These grant checks were unanimously approved and dispersed.
Presentations
Voluntary
agreement between Bambule and ANC 3E was presented for
approval. The agreement limits the hours Bambule may
have live music and the business must provide parking
for its customers. Bambule has agreed to the terms of
the agreement and therefore the ANC will withdraw the
protest petition against liquor license renewal. The
ANC unanimously voted to adopt the voluntary agreement.
Greg
McCarthy, Director of Policy and Valuation in the Mayors
Office was unable to attend but will be present in a
future month.
Alex
Exman, Administrator of the Office of Mass Transit of
DPW and Dave Arian, Metro Office of Planning, addressed
WMATA N-Line changes. The changes include, restoration
of the N-3 bus service to Foggy Bottom during rush hours,
rerouting of the N-2 off of Western Avenue and Mass.
Ave. (This should reduce bus traffic on Western Avenue
by around 200 per week.) And the rerouting of the N-8
around the Tenleytown station.
Commissioner Mayo requested further supervision of the
N-8 line as the buses are not timely and the drivers
are not aware of their routes. Commissioner Mayo also
requested a change in the small bus ventilation system.
Mr. Arian stated changes are being made to the ventilation
systems and that he would again pass on the complaints
concerning the N-8 line.
2nd
District Police
Lt.
Carter of PSA 202 gave the crime update for the neighborhood
and noted that overall crime was down. Lt. Carter also
gave some safety tips and said to call 727-7070 for
any light outages on the streets.
There
being no further business the meeting was adjourned
at 9:20PM.
